The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries of the Ministry of Economy presented an update on the Electronic Slaughter Control System (CEF) at the 2026 Rural Expo to representatives of meat industry and production associations from across the country.
To test whether the system was functioning properly during this new phase, a version was implemented at twelve plants selected based on various criteria: geographic location, processing volume, the supplier they initially had in place, and the type of transit authorization—provincial or federal.

The next step is to roll out the update to the country’s 480 plants, so that the aforementioned system covers the slaughter of all species. It is worth noting that the CEF functions as a “black box” that records the weight and images of slaughtered animals; it consists of a scale and cameras that capture images, and the data is stored on a device.
