On June 10 and 11, 333 attended Axiom’s inaugural International Swine Seminar, held at the iconic Couvent des Jacobins in Rennes, France. The event brought together 250 participants from 29 countries, marking an important milestone for the French swine genetics company and reinforcing its growing influence within the global pig industry.

A global gathering for the swine industry

The seminar welcomed customers, breeding professionals, researchers, veterinarians and industry partners from 29 countries, creating a truly international platform for knowledge exchange and networking. Over two days, attendees had the opportunity to discuss common challenges, share experiences and explore the future of pig production through a programme combining expert presentations and round-table discussions.

Genetics, robustness and productivity

The scientific agenda reflected the key priorities shaping modern pig production. Presentations addressed the genetic progress achieved by Axiom over the past decade, with a focus on improving animal robustness, productivity and efficiency.

Experts also examined strategies to enhance piglet vitality and quality at birth, optimise the performance of hyperprolific sows through nutrition and management, and balance economic performance with animal welfare and resilience.

Digital technologies driving the future

Digitalisation emerged as another major theme throughout the event. Several sessions explored the role of precision phenotyping, data collection and digital technologies in supporting genetic selection, monitoring animal behaviour and welfare, and improving decision-making on commercial farms.

The discussions highlighted how data-driven approaches are becoming increasingly important in building more efficient and sustainable production systems.

Adapting to evolving production systems

The seminar also addressed the evolution of production systems and the challenges associated with meeting consumer expectations while maintaining competitiveness. Through practical examples and technical exchanges, speakers demonstrated how genetics, management and technology can work together to improve animal performance, welfare outcomes and the production of high-quality pork.

Celebrating 10 years of Axiom

A highlight of the event was the gala dinner held on the evening of June 10, during which Axiom celebrated its 10th anniversary. The gathering brought together customers, partners and colleagues in a convivial atmosphere, offering an opportunity to reflect on the company's achievements over the past decade and its ambitions for the future.

Strengthening international connections

Beyond the technical programme, the seminar provided valuable opportunities for networking and strengthening relationships between industry stakeholders from around the world.

By combining high-level technical content, international participation and a strong focus on innovation, Axiom’s first International Swine Seminar successfully showcased French expertise in pig genetics and production while reinforcing the company's international positioning.

As a participant in the event, 333 was pleased to witness the exchange of ideas and expertise that made this first edition a significant gathering for the global pig sector.
