According to Copa-Cogeca, the European Parliament's Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) has approved by a large majority its opinion on the Commission's proposal to revise the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED), reiterating the European Parliament's main conclusion of 2023: the scope of the IED for livestock activities does not conform to this Directive.
Among the measures included in the approved text is the proposal to return to the thresholds of more than 40,000 places for poultry, 2,000 places for pigs, and 750 places for sows to determine the livestock activities included in the scope of the Directive.

The AGRI Commission's opinion also proposes simplifying registration procedures and promoting digital processing, as well as preventing farmers from having to provide information that they have already communicated under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) or other legislative provisions.
