Belgium: Pig inventory continues to decline in Flanders

In 2025, there were 4.9 million pigs in the Flemish Region, which is 3% fewer than in 2024. Between 2016 and 2020, the total number of pigs fluctuated around 5.8 million, but there has been a steady decline in recent years. The number of sows has been decreasing for quite some time and was 43% lower in 2025 than in 2005.
