The island of Lolland, the fourth largest in Denmark, is now completely free of PRRS and, as a result, all municipalities of Møn, Lolland, and Falster are now free of PRRS-positive herds.

This achievement represents an important step in the national recovery program, in which farmers, veterinarians, and consultants have worked diligently for several years to reduce and eliminate the disease from Danish pig herds.

In addition to Lolland, Bornholm, Samsø, and several municipalities on the island of Funen are now registered as PRRS-free.

This development demonstrates that the joint effort continues to move Denmark forward in the right direction and brings more and more areas closer to the goal of a PRRS-free Denmark.

In Zeeland, only a few PRRS-positive herds remain in the municipality of Holbæk. All affected farms have developed a recovery plan, which represents a good starting point for further progress.
