Eudald Llauradó-Calero

SNiBA - UAB - Spain Author

I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (specialization in Clinical and Forensic Biochemistry) in the Universitat Rovira i Virgili in 2018, during which I completed a five-month internship at Stem Cell and Developmental Biology research group of Technische Universität Darmstadt (Germany) conducting my Bachelor Thesis project.

Subsequently, I obteined the interuniversity Master of Science in Advanced Immunology imparted by the Universitat de Barcelona and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. During this program, I carried out my Master Thesis project through a research internship at the Department of Oncological Hematology and Transplants. As a next step, I started my PhD at the Animal Nutrition program of IRTA, supported by an INIA predoctoral grant (PRE2018-086726), within the framework of the PhD programme in Nutrition and Metabolism at Universitat Rovira i Virgili. My research focused on the effects of n-3 long-chain fatty acids as a nutritional strategy in sow and piglet diets. Specifically, we studied their impact on productive performance in sows and perinatal piglet growth, as well as physiological parameters such as fatty acid and oxylipin profiles, immune markers, microbiota composition, and transcriptomic responses. During this period, I also undertook a four-month PhD internship at Aarhus University (Denmark), within the Section for Monogastric Nutrition of the Department of Animal Science.

After completing my PhD, I joined the SNiBA research group as an INVESTIGO postdoctoral researcher, where I am involved in both public research projects and private industry contracts. Currently, my research is primarily focused on  swine and poultry. Specifically, my research encompasses several areas, including the evaluation of the efficacy and functionality of feed ingredients and additives, studies on productive efficiency, gut health and animal welfare, the application of sensor technologies, and the identification of novel inflammation biomarkers, among others.
