Sedatives are substances used in order to calm the animals down. They can be used to avoid fights when animals that have not met previously are mixed in a pen (especially in the case of sows or of fattening pigs with a high weight), in order to calm down the sows that bite their piglets or to calm down the animals before their transportation.
