At the world congress of swine veterinary medicine, Virbac presented new vaccines for enteric diseases and a monitoring solution based on artificial intelligence.

The 28th Congress of the International Pig Veterinary Society (IPVS), held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, was the chosen stage to present new solutions aimed at two of the main health challenges in pig production: enteric and respiratory diseases.

The choice of Asia was no coincidence. As Francisco Rodríguez, Global Marketing Manager at Virbac, pointed out, it is one of the most relevant regions for the swine business and a strategic market for the company. In that context, the congress brought together more than 4,000 registered delegates from around the world and offered the ideal setting to share innovation, knowledge and new tools for the sector.

New vaccines for the control of E. coli

Among the main new developments, Virbac announced the launch of Suigen Coli F4 and Suigen Coli F18, vaccines developed to protect piglets against post-weaning piglet diarrhea and edema disease associated with E. coli.

The new solutions are part of the company's commitment to preventive strategies and the responsible use of antibiotics. Their launch wil begin in Asia this year and will later reach other markets, including Latin America.l

A comprehensive approach to enteric diseases

As part of its scientific participation in the IPVS, Virbac organized a satellite symposium dedicated to the control of enteric diseases and the impact of E. coli on pig production.

The program brought together international experts to address both the health situation in Southeast Asia and the experience of North America. During the presentations, the importance of implementing comprehensive programs that combine vaccination, management, nutrition and monitoring to reduce the impact of these diseases was highlighted.

Artificial intelligence to anticipate respiratory outbreaks

Innovation was also present in the field of respiratory health with the presentation of Suigen Sense, Virbac's smart farming solution based on artificial intelligence.

The system consists of a series of devices that monitor any respiratory event 24/7, coughing, along with the control of the barn's temperature and humidity, during the nursery and fattening phase (15 to 130 kg b.w.). It can detect increases in coughing and disease outbreaks up to 5 days before farm staff. The monitoring system sends real-time alerts to the farmer when any respiratory event is detected.

The tool complements the Suigen respiratory range and reinforces the approach to challenges such as porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC), porcine circovirus (PCV2) and PRRS.
