The FNP (Fédération Nationale Porcine) 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 — a key opportunity to inform and discuss the future of pig welfare with French stakeholders.
A must-attend moment for staying up to date with the sector’s latest developments!

From September 16 to 18, the 333 Experience Congress was held in Lleida (Spain), bringing together professionals from the pig farming sector across three themed days.
WelFarmers was proud to participate as an official collaborator of the event, especially during the first day, which was fully dedicated to farm workers and pig farmers. This was a great opportunity to connect directly with the people at the heart of pig production, share the project’s goals, and gather valuable feedback as we continue working to improve pig welfare across Europe.

This is one of the Best Practices selected within the WelFarmers project under the topic Avoiding pain in castration, and it's tittled "𝐔𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚".

Abstract: Local Anaesthesia and Analgesia to reduce pain in castration

Vivi Aarestrup, representing WelFarmers, presented the project during the session “𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐰𝐬.”

In this farm, castration without pain relief is not allowed — and they’ve developed a protocol using local anaesthesia. From careful piglet handling to timing and staff training, every step is designed to reduce pain and stress.
