WelFarmers at OKRA – The Real Farm Fair at Oripää Airport

From 2 to 5 July 2025, the WelFarmers project was represented in OKRA – The Real Farm Fair, where everyone from small producers to large corporations as well as research and administrative institutions have the chance to exhibit their latest agricultural innovations to professionals and lays alike.  

The OKRA Fair, which is one of the most prominent agricultural events in Finland, took place in an airfield close to the town of Oripää welcoming hundreds of exhibitors and tens of thousands of visitors. Despite challenging weather conditions marked by rain and wind, the four-day event drew a large and enthusiastic crowd. Many attendees returned on multiple days to see animals and machinery on display, sample novel food products, and hear about the newest innovations in the field.  

WelFarmers was present throughout the entire event, engaging with both new and familiar faces. The stand offered an open space for dialogue on pig welfare, provided project information, and encouraged interaction with the public — helping to build awareness of the project and collect valuable input for the upcoming second round of Good Practices.

On two days of the fair, WelFarmers was also featured on the main stage, where short presentations introduced the project to a wider audience and directed interested attendees to the stand. Visitors were invited to learn about the work being done across Europe, share their own ideas for Good Practices, and take part in conversations with guest experts who joined the stand each day. These exchanges helped promote a deeper understanding of the welfare challenges in pig production and fostered knowledge-sharing in an approachable and inclusive setting.

OKRA once again proved to be a valuable opportunity to connect with the farming community and stakeholders in Finland. The WelFarmers team thanks all those who visited the stand and contributed to the discussions.
