I have a background in microbial ecology and have studied fundamental and applied aspects of carbon and nitrogen cycling and microbial dynamics in soil and manure environments, with particular focus on gaseous emissions and the environmental controls of the microorganisms involved. Experimental work has included stable isotopes, trace gas analyses, and lipid analyses of microbial communities.
