The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development has pledged its support for the 9th edition of the Animal Agriculture Conference 2026, in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS). This announcement was made during a meeting in Abuja, where a delegation from the Local Organising Committee (LOC) presented updates on preparations for the upcoming event.

The Ministry confirmed that the conference will feature technical lectures and exhibition displays, and a call on stakeholders, including the private sector, financial institutions, and development partners, to actively support the initiative. It also emphasised that all state offices of the Ministry of Livestock Development will participate, underscoring a nationwide commitment to the event.

Furthermore, attention was drawn to the importance of adequate planning, noting that the conference, rescheduled from 2025 to 2026, carries high expectations from the international community. This event is positioned as a significant platform for strengthening Nigeria’s role in animal agriculture and livestock development.

Earlier, the LOC highlighted that the conference will convene experts, researchers, and stakeholders across Africa to discuss innovations, best practices, and developments in animal agriculture. These discussions are expected to contribute to sustainable economic growth and improved livestock productivity in Nigeria and the wider region.

Preparations are already underway, including logistics planning, partnership development, and participant engagement strategies. The Committee also confirmed that call for papers and abstract submissions has commenced, alongside awareness campaigns on social media platforms to drive participation and visibility.

The LOC further appealed for continued institutional support and strategic guidance from the Ministry to ensure the successful hosting of what is regarded as a key continental event in animal agriculture.
