The International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW) is an initiative held in different countries every year to inform and promote the use of compost, explain where it comes from, how it should be used, and its benefits.

Compost is the product resulting from the aerobic decomposition of organic matter through the composting process, which, when reused in the agricultural sector, is a tool for improving soil fertility.

ICAW began in Canada in 1995 and, over time, has spread to other countries. This initiative has continued to grow as more entities, educational centers, and organizations have joined.

International Compost Week is held the first week of May each year.
