The Mpisi Core Pig Breeding Center was officially inaugurated on April 11, 2025, in central Eswatini as a key achievement of the Pig Industry Enhancement Project Phase II, implemented by the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) in collaboration with Eswatini’s Ministry of Agriculture.

The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a guided tour of the modernized facility led by Project Manager Henry Jian and Coordinator Xolani Ndlangamandla, showcasing its pig breeds, advanced breeding technologies, and strict biosecurity measures. A short film was also screened to highlight the project’s milestones.

Eswatini’s Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Mandla Tshawuka, described the breeding center as a milestone in the country's efforts to transform its swine industry, improve food security, and empower rural farmers. Minister Ching-lin Tsuei of the Embassy of Taiwan in Eswatini reaffirmed Taiwan’s support for sustainable agriculture and rural development in Eswatini.

One of the participating farmers at the ceremony, Mrs. M. Mavuso shared her success story, noting that domestic pork production has grown by over 70% since the project began in 2016. TaiwanICDF Deputy Secretary General Ms. Pei-Fen Hsieh emphasized that Phase II aims to strengthen the swine industry value chain and improve farmer incomes.

Ms. Hsieh further highlighted the center as a model of modern pig production in Eswatini, representing innovation, collaboration, and a collective goal of agricultural self-reliance.
