Pig Industry Board honors the past and builds the future by empowering war veterans in pig production.
In alignment with the national vision of leaving no one and no place behind and supporting the aspirations of Vision 2030, the Pig Industry Board (PIB) continues to strengthen its role as the lead institution driving the growth and development of Zimbabwe’s pig industry through strategic skills-development programs. In partnership with the Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs, PIB has been equipping Zimbabwean war veterans and their beneficiaries with practical, market-driven pig production skills that empower them to establish and sustainably manage successful piggery enterprises. Initiated in 2024 and significantly expanded during the period of 17 to 21 November 2025, this program reached five provinces and trained more than 300 participants. By capacitating this special group with technical competence and enterprise-management knowledge, PIB is not only enhancing household incomes among war veterans but also contributing meaningfully to increased national pork production and the overall advancement of the pig sector. This initiative demonstrates PIB’s commitment to inclusive economic empowerment, sectoral transformation, and honouring the contribution of those who served the nation.
