Its extensive genetic diversity, rapid mutation rate, and capacity for immune evasion significantly compromise host protective immunity and undermine current control strategies. Consequently, the challenge extends beyond vaccine deployment to the development of innovative approaches that anticipate and counter viral adaptation. Recent advances in immunological and molecular research are providing critical insights into host–virus interactions, offering new directions for more effective and sustainable PRRSV control.
