Sequel to the outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Luweero District, Uganda, the government has placed a ban on the movement of swine, its products, and by-products within the district.

This directive was issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries and signed by the District Production Officer after African Swine Fever was detected in animals in different parts of Luweero District.

Consequently, there has been immediate enforcement of the directive, leading to the installation of roadblocks on all transit routes and the shutdown of swine slaughterhouses within the district to prevent further spread and illegal movement of animals, in accordance with the Animal Diseases Act of the Uganda Constitution.
