Communication professionals have been urged to drive a strategic shift in narratives that position farming as a pillar of food security, economic growth, and national pride. The call highlights the need for deliberate messaging to reshape public perception and elevate agriculture within national development priorities.
There were also strong recommendations for curriculum reform and the integration of innovation in farming practices, with emphasis on transitioning to data-driven agriculture, research-based systems, and technological advancement. This approach is considered critical to modernising the agricultural sector and improving productivity.
As a key outcome of the session, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations announced plans to establish an Agriculture and Food Security Hub. The platform is expected to facilitate strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge exchange, aimed at strengthening food security initiatives and advancing agricultural development across Nigeria.
