As part of the African swine fever (ASF) control and containment measures, specific hunting actions have been activated in the infected low-risk area, covering between 10 and 20 kilometers around the detected outbreak.
Yesterday, the first of two meetings scheduled with the hunting societies affected by ASF in this area was held in Castellar del Vallès, attended by the Deputy Director General of Game, Hunting and Inland Fishing of the Government of Catalonia, Josep Maria López, as well as technical staff from the Barcelona Regional Services.
The meeting aimed to begin organizing weekend hunts to reduce the wild boar population.
During the meeting, the protocol for collecting samples from the hunted animals was explained in detail. These samples will be analyzed to ensure the corresponding health monitoring.
