Nigeria approves Veterinary Medicines list for Animal Health

The Management Sciences for Health under the Fleming Fund Country Grant reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nigeria in antimicrobial resistance surveillance and containment across One Health sectors.

Participants at the workshop, held from 5 to 7 November 2025 in Keffi, Nasarawa State, included experts from academia, regulatory agencies, state veterinary services and representatives from the private sector.

The validated National Essential Veterinary Medicines List and Guidelines will now serve as a national reference tool to guide veterinary prescription practices, strengthen regulatory oversight and promote the prudent use of antimicrobials to protect both animal and public health.
