Between January and September 2025, China imported 780,000 tons of pork, a similar figure to the previous year (790,000 tons in 2024). However, this represents a 76% drop compared to the same period in 2020, when imports reached 3.28 million tons.

On the other hand, imports of offal, although they have also declined over the years, have remained more stable. In the first nine months of 2025, 920,000 tons were imported, 11.5% less than in 2020 (1.04 million tons) and practically the same as in 2024 (930,000 tons).

As we can see in the following graph, there has been a structural change in China's pork imports in recent years. While in 2020 offal accounted for just a quarter of the total (24%), by 2025 it will account for more than half (54%). For the past two years, China has been importing more offal than pork, reflecting a shift in domestic demand.
