17-Jul-2014 (11 years 10 months 21 days ago)Due to the presence of African swine fever (ASF) outbreaks, the Minister of Economy of Belarus, Mr. Nicholas Snapkou, informed that the population of pigs dropped by 20% on the industrial pig farms and up to by half on the small-sized farms.
This so drastic drop in production has entailed a significant rise in the prices, which have increased more than in other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (Russia, Kazakhstan). For instance, the price of neck meat almost doubled in a month, going from BYR93,000/kg (US$8.89/kg) to BYR175,000/kg (US$16.8/kg).
