European Union: protection of animals during transport

On a request from the Danish and Swedish delegations, supported by several other delegations, the Commission informed the Council about the measures taken so far to improve the implementation of the animal transport regulation.

The Council adopted conclusions on the protection and welfare of animals in June 2012. However, it did not request the Commission to present a proposal to enhance the protection of animals during transport.
