Canada: CFIA officially recognizes CSHB biosecurity standard

At the Canadian Swine Health Forum in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the CFIA provided its letter of official recognition of the Canadian Swine Health Board (CSHB) National Swine Farm-level Biosecurity Standard.

The CSHB developed the standard with a technical expert committee and input from over 100 biosecurity experts in Canada and abroad. CFIA has been conducting a rigourous review to ensure it met the requirements for their official recognition.

The aim of the National Swine Farm-level Biosecurity Standard is to assist the swine industry attain and apply the strategic objectives of bio-exclusion, bio-management and bio-containment of swine pathogens and zoonoses in Canada. The Standard is available at www.swinehealth.ca.
