Russia: no renewal of trade in live pigs from EU

During the Working Meeting between Sergey Dankvert, Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor (Russia), and Ladislav Miko, Deputy Director General for the Food Chain of the Directorate-General for Health and Consumers of the DG SANCO (European Union), great attention was given to the discussion of issues which had arisen after the Rosselkhoznadzor had imposed temporary restrictions on import of live commercial pigs from the EU countries.

As it is known the restrictions were imposed due to numerous export violations of the Russian and international legislation. Moreover the measures proposed by the European Commission for resolving of the situation are not appropriate, that’s why the renewal of trade in live pigs is not possible now.
