The affected farm had a stock of 13.000 pigs and is located only 7 kilometers from the last outbreak which was announced on July 3rd.

This time, the only clinical symptom observed has been some animals’ increased body temperature. Blood tests later confirmed contact with the virus. The veterinary authorities immediately began implementing protection measures outlined in the October 23rd Council Directive 2001/89/CE, setting up a new restriction zone.

Wild boars, a priori, are not considered to be an epidemiological problem since the intense health watch has not tested any of the animals positive for the virus. The restrictions on movement of species sensitive to CSF remain in place throughout the country.
