08-Jun-2011 (14 years 11 months 30 days ago)
Two days after notification of the first outbreak of Classic Swine Fever (June 1, 2011), the Lithuanian Veterinary Service has confirmed the presence of the CSF virus on another two swine farms located in the same district as the first outbreak.

The second source has appeared on a farm with 3.082 pigs located within the 3 km protection zone from the first source. The third source has been detected on a farm with 4.606 pigs located within the 10km watch zone established at the start of the outbreak.

Epidemiological research has yet to find the origin of these new outbreaks, although there is proof of the movement of live animals among the first outbreak zone and the other two throughout May.
