Cambodia is threatened by a shortage of pork as pig farmers are leaving the business due to high input cost.

Minister for Agriculture Chan Sarun has admitted that Cambodia cannot produce enough pork for consumption and has temporarily allowed pork imports. The Minister said average per capita meat consumption in the country is 15kg, of which 9.75kg is pork and 2kg is chicken.
