China had suspended those imports two years ago, when H1N1 influenza virus was sickening people, along with pork products.
The change in policy was made with no fanfare — just a March 2011 update on APHIS’s website, adding a “Temporary Attestation: Live Swine to China” document to the existing “Quarantine and Health Requirements” document, which dates to June 1995.
