30-Mar-2011 (15 years 2 months 6 days ago)2010 was a record year for exportation of the PDO product, "Prosciutto di Parma". With an increase of 9,5%, 2.256.000 hams were exported to over 80 different countries. Foreign markets currently represent 24% of Parma ham production.
The United States, with a 17% increase in importations of this type of ham is the number one destination, surpassing France. These two main destinations are followed by Germany and the UK.
A key factor has been the important rise in the exportation of sliced ham, which has seen an increase of 10%.
