New FMD centre found in Southeast Bulgaria

28-Mar-2011 (15 years 2 months 10 days ago)Dr. Yordan Voinov will visit Sredetz municipality where 23.03.2011 in the village of Granichar during a routine check of the veterinary team of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency a new outbreak of FMD has been detected. Experts with the agency have taken 7 samples, 6 of which turned positive. The infected animals are from a cattle herd, owned by a private person. The entire herd will be killed.
Last week, on 19.03.2011 veterinary teams with the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency, during a routine check took clinical samples which tested positive for FMD 143 cows farmed near a village Kirovo, Sredets Municipality to the border with Turkey. As of 23.03.2011, 106 out of 143 animals were killed . The agricultural cooperativewill be compensated.
