China plans compulsory animal vaccination

Called "The Immunity Plan on Animal Epidemic Diseases in China in 2011", it stipulates that livestock keepers in China compulsively vaccinate five different shots on their animals: avian influenza, porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome, foot-and-mouth disease, swine fever and peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV).
Industry experts estimate that the spending for bird flu will be CNY 1.1 billion (USD167.36 million), nearly CNY 3.5 billion (USD532.51 million) for blue-ear disease and around CNY 800 million (USD121.72 million) for swine fever prevention.
