Mexico - SAGARPA invests over 20 million pesos to promote Mexican meat products

16-Mar-2011 (15 years 2 months 24 days ago)The Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fishing, and Food (SAGARPA) invests almost 2 million dollars per year (about 24 million pesos) for the promotion of meat products in the international market.
Through the use of 28 TIF plants authorized for exporting to 21 countries throughout the world, Mexico sells 14 thousand 600 tons of meats abroad, worth about 40 million dollars, including products like ham, sausage and prepared poultry products. Of these exports, the United States acquires 68 percent, and Guatemala 25 percent, followed by El Salvador, Cuba, and Japan.
