A 182% increase of exports to Belarus stands out, as well as a 20% increase in exports to Japan. The main destinations of European pig meat are Russia with 30.1% of the total exported (809.148 tons), Hong Kong with 15,7% of the total, and Japan and china with 8,3% and 7,9% of the total.
With respect to imports, these were fixed at 43.401 tons, 16,2% less than the previous year when they reached 51.662 tons.
This data, presented during the last meeting of the EU Committee for Swine Management also shows how during the last year the EU continued to be the main exporter of pork meat worldwide, followed by the United States, China and Hong Kong, Canada and Brazil, while the biggest importer was china and Hong Kong, followed by Japan, Russia, Mexico, the United States and South Korea.
