German pig prices are showing signs of bouncing back this week as The EU’s farm ministers agreed to introduce a private storage scheme for pork from regions affected by the dioxin scare.

The German market information service (AMI) is reporting that prices are rising for piglets and that slaughter pig prices are also on the rebound. Import restrictions on German pork introduced by Russia and Eastern Europe states caused the pig price to weaken, but AMI reports that prices moved up for the first time in a month in the week ended Jan 23.
