Vietnam needs to import more meat and feed ingredients to meet growing demand.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade predicted that total domestic demand for all meat products in 2011 would increase 6.5-7% to 2.9 million tonnes, registering a shortfall of 90,000-100,000 tonnes of meat, which will be offset through imports. The ministry estimated that Vietnam would need 20.6 million tonnes of feed ingredients in 2011 - 7.7 million tonnes will be imported.
