Vietnam has allowed abattoirs in areas affected by blue-ear disease to resume slaughtering pigs, said Hoang Van Nam, Director of the Department of Animal Health.

He said the revocation of the ban was aimed at overcoming the shortage of pork in these areas which caused prices to rise as consumption in the blue-ear disease hit areas did not shrink.
