Vietnam starts GM corn cultivation

Nguyen Xuan Duong,Deputy Head of the Livestock Breeding Department, said project is taking place in the northern province of Hung Yen and some other southern provinces. Vietnam is expected to import 1.6 million tonnes of corn in 2010, up 28% from the previous year. The country's feed industry has to import 90-95% of oil meals such as soybean meal and 95-98% of vitamins and minerals.
