USA - USDA proposes to amend Livestock Exportation Regulations

20-Sep-2010 (15 years 8 months 18 days ago)The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is proposing to amend the livestock exportation regulations to eliminate pre-export tuberculosis and brucellosis testing for goats and breeding swine if the receiving country does not require such testing.
Some countries do not require goats and breeding swine to be tested for tuberculosis and brucellosis prior to export. However, APHIS’ current regulations require that such testing be conducted. The proposed amendments would relieve this unnecessary burden on producers by exempting goats and breeding swine from tuberculosis and brucellosis testing prior to export when testing is not required by the receiving country.
