Vietnam - Blue ear disease flattens corn demand

Pham Duc Binh, Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam Animal Feed Association, said Vietnam will import 1.25 million tonnes, the same as last year.
He said the forecast by the USDA is based on Vietnam's growth rate and pork demand, but since the country's pig industry was badly hit by the blue ear disease the volume of corn needed is not as expected. The association said corn price in the world market is highly volatile and has urged local feedmillers to use raw materials in stock before making a decision on imports.
