Romania – Decrease in pig numbers

07-Jun-2010 (15 years 11 months 30 days ago)Based on the results of statistical survey on livestock and animal production in 2009, carried out by National Institute of Statistics, on December 1, 2009, as compared to the same date of 2008, cattle, pigs livestock and poultry registered falls, while sheep and goats livestock increased.
The total number of pigs decreased by 6.2% while the number of reproductive sows decreased by 4.5%. After consecutive increases up to the end of 2006 when the total number of pigs reached 6.8 million there have been significant decreases in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
