The suspicious case had vesicles in teats and it was reported to the local government on 21 April. The National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service (NVRQS) affirmed that the pigs were infected with FMD virus by PCR and ELISA on 22 April.
Not only were culled the cattle in the affected farm but also all cloven-hoofed animals within a radius of 3km from the affected farm.
The date of last occurrence was 11/03/2010.
