Cuba - Camagüey to boost pig farming

Small farmers of this Cuban eastern province are taking diverse initiatives to carry on the pig farming program severely affected by the rise in the prices of soybeans, corn and other by-products used as animal feeds.
The municipalities of Guáimaro and Vertientes stood out in the implementation of the initiatives, after having adopted new forms of agreement with the State-run Empresa Porcina company, buying early weaning piglets and so saving an important amount of hard currency, that the country would have had otherwise to pay out.
