Awarded a one-star Innov’Space prize, MATERNEO 4.0 combines individualised sow feeding with automated piglet weighing. With the Maïa platform, artificial intelligence complements the system to support farmers in their decision-making.
In the farrowing unit, nutritional requirements change throughout lactation. MATERNEO 4.0 adjusts feed delivery to each sow’s feeding behaviour, actual feed intake and intake capacity.
Feed is delivered in small, successive portions. A sensor in the trough detects any remaining feed: each new portion is dispensed only after the previous one has been consumed, matching the sow’s feeding rhythm and limiting feed accumulation.
The system records each piglet’s weight and tracks its growth. By combining this data with feed and water intake recorded by MATERNEO 4.0, farmers have the information they need to calculate the sow’s milk
production.
Accessible on computers and smartphones, Maïa by Asserva centralises intake data, feeding history and individual animal data.
The platform uses artificial intelligence to analyse this information and provide practical recommendations. Farmers can interact with Maïa via text or voice commands, view performance curves and identify deviations that require their attention.
