Philippine pork production in 2027 is forecast to increase by 4.4% from the 2026 estimate, reaching 1.06 million metric tons (MMT) carcass weight equivalent (CWE). This growth is attributed to the expansion of production operations amid government-led repopulation efforts and continued investment by commercial farms. Enhanced biosecurity measures implemented by the local swine industry and wider adoption of improved swine genetics and animal nutrition further supports production growth. However, gains from these measures could be partially offset by the forecasted strong El Niño in the latter part of 2026 through early 2027.

Pork consumption is forecast 6.4% higher in 2027 at 1.9 MMT CWE compared to the 2026 estimate given population growth and easing inflation. The Philippine government also anticipates a return to stronger growth following the slowdown in 2026.

Pork imports are forecast to reach 835 thousand metric tons CWE, 7.1% higher compared to the 2026 estimate amid higher demand, as the domestic production recovery from African swine fever remains underway. Brazil is expected to remain the Philippines’ top supplier of imported pork products, following the accreditation granted to its pork exporters and Brazil’s competitive pricing.
