Philippines’ swine inventory falls 1% to 8.93 million head

The Philippines’ total swine inventory stood at 8.93 million head as of 30 June 2026, down 1.0% from the 9.01 million head recorded in the same period of 2025.

Smallhold farms continued to account for the vast majority of the country’s pig population, holding 79.3% of the total inventory. Commercial farms accounted for 19.0%, while semi-commercial farms represented the remaining 1.7%.

At regional level, Calabarzon had the country’s largest swine population, with 1.22 million head at the end of June. It was followed by Central Luzon, with 1.07 million head, and the Bicol Region, with 0.75 million head. Together, these three regions accounted for 34.2% of the Philippines’ total swine inventory during the period.
