Argentina and Germany sign Joint Declaration to strengthen agri-food trade relations

The Declaration, which was signed between the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation, Sergio Iraeta, and the Deputy Minister of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity of Germany, Martina Englhardt-Kopf, seeks to intensify cooperation in matters of agri-food policies and research, respecting the competences, priorities and interests of each country.

The instrument will come into force on the date of its signature and will be valid for 5 years.

Both countries emphasized the importance of open, fair and rules-based international trade, in accordance with the principles and obligations assumed as members of the World Trade Organization.

Argentina exports products to Germany worth more than USD 500 million annually, including beef, honey, animal feed, fruit, peanuts, wine products, among others.

The German delegation consisted of German government officials, businesspeople from the agricultural inputs sector, researchers, and an agricultural producers' association.
