12-Jan-2010 (16 years 4 months 26 days ago)Capitol officials have put to premium public health and safety as they passed on first reading the proposed “pro-active measure” Ordinance that puts in place stringent regulation in the establishment of livestock farms, such as piggery and poultry.
But before the livestock measure could finally hurdle the legislative mill during the second reading, a public hearing should be conducted, said the agriculture committee chaired by Vice-Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera with vice-chairperson Ma. Fe Camacho-Lejos and committee member Josil Trabajo.
the proposed Ordinance is a preventive measure that anticipates the concentration of commercial livestock farms in the future and to prevent the possibility of contamination or resurging of diseases, like the Foot-and-mouth disease, Avian Flu, A(H1N1) virus, hog cholera and the dreaded Ebola virus.
