First global pork production estimates for 2026 from USDA

Global forecasts

• Global pork production for 2026 is expected to reach 117.2 million tons (Mt), representing a slight 0.1% increase compared to 2025 (117.0 Mt).

• Global exports are expected to fall by 0.8% compared to 2025, going from 10.4 to 10.3 Mt.

• Imports are expected to reach 9.4 Mt in 2026, an increase of 1.8% compared to 2025 (9.3 Mt).

• Apparent consumption is expected to increase by 0.3% in 2026, rising from 115.9 to 116.3 Mt.

Forecasts for leading countries

• China is forecast to produce 57.2 Mt in 2026, maintaining the same volume as in 2025. On the other hand, a 1.4% increase in import volume is estimated, which would reach 1.5 Mt.

• European Union production is expected to fall by 1.2% in 2026, reaching 21.5 Mt. With an estimated total of 2.8 Mt, exports are expected to fall by 7.4%. Imports are forecast to reach 105,000 t.

• In 2026, the United States is expected to maintain production at the same levels as in 2025 (12.5 Mt), with exports expected to increase by 0.7% to 3.2 Mt.

• Vietnam is expected to reach a production of 4.0 Mt in 2026, representing an increase of 3.2% over the previous year. In contrast, imports are expected to fall by 8% to 115,000 t.

• Japan is expected to remain the world's second-largest importer of pork in 2026 with 1.48 million tons, which is 1.4% higher than the estimate for 2025.

• Brazil is expected to increase its production volume by 1.3% in 2026, reaching 4.7 Mt. Exports are also expected to reach 1.8 Mt, representing an increase of 3.8% compared to 2025.

• Mexico's production is expected to grow by 3.3% to approximately 1.4 Mt in 2026. It will also remain the world's and Latin America's leading importer with 1.62 Mt, which is 0.9% above the 2025 total.

• Production in Canada is expected to increase by 0.7% in 2026 to 2.2 Mt, and exports are expected to grow by 1.4% to around 1.5 Mt.
