U.S: Texas prohibits the sale of cell-cultured meat

Senate Bill 261 was approved, prohibiting the sale of cell-cultured protein for human consumption in the state of Texas. It provides civil and criminal penalties. This Act takes effect on September 1, 2025 and expires on September 1, 2027.

"Cell-cultured protein" means a food product derived from harvesting animal cells and artificially replicating those cells in a growth medium to produce tissue.
